While taking care both sexes of your children is of utmost importance, the girl child is especially important because of her affiliation to her father. She looks at how her father treats her mum, how he goes about his fatherly duties and many more. These in turn have a way of drawing or carving out what kind of man she wants to be attracted to and many more. Here are however 10 top things you should know when fathering a girl child.

#1 She wants to be loved. Much more than you can imagine, your daughter want a father figure that can be much more than an instructor, father-head and other things expected of a father. She wants you to love her even when she makes mistakes and let you down.
#2 You have an influence on her future partner. Just like it was made known earlier, it is so scary to think that the kind of man you are to her will have a direct impact on who she chooses to marry someday. But ‘sadly’,. that’s the truth. Be a good father and a good husband to her mother, then, she will want to marry someone like you!
#3 Make memories. Fill up your daughter’s emotional journal with memories of being with her dad. Most times, it is not only boredom or teenage exuberance that pushes young girls into untold events, it is all in the name of wanting to catch some fun with friends, making memories with people you do not even trust as a father. Go street cycling with her, go to the cinemas, let her be eager when weekends are approaching!
#4 Show up to her events. Yes, we live in a very busy ear but as dads of young daughters, career building shouldn’t take the whole of your time. Infact, not showing up at your daughter’s event is  a great sin. Make efforts always.
#5 Teach her that it’s not about her. Something amazing happens when we realize that the universe doesn’t spin around us. We’re not modeling it perfectly for our girls, but we’re trying to show them that life is best lived when we give ourselves away. To serve others. To go last. To not always have to be right.
#6 Don’t shrink back as she grows up. Most fathers believe when their daughters are of a particular age, then, they have less work. No! Actually as they grow, your work grows as a father. Engage your teenage daughters. Periods, boyfriends, shaving armpits, Facebook, whatever it is. Be their best friends. Don’t disappear when their emotions and bodies start changing.

Real reason why Sir Onukaogu was fired

t is no longer news that Sir Alwell Onukaogu has been fired from the post of the rector of Abia State Polytechnic, and to follow that up, he was apprehended by the EFCC,  just few months left for the expiration of his tenure, on charges of mismanagement of the institution and embezzlement of the school funds amounting to hundreds of millions of Naira

On one hand, this seems unprofessional and disappointing, but news from Inside Aspoly disclose that this might be a political strategy to truncate Sir Alwell's resignation from his post and make him available and ready to be one of the running mates in the contest for the Senate House positions in the upcoming elections.

Source disclosed that Sir Alwell showed interest in obtaining a seat in the Senate House but his Post as the Rector of ASPOLY was a thousand barrier to his ambition, hence he needs to quit his position one way or the other in order to pick up papers for the Senate house posts, and the only way to come to this end was a sack later and in order to make it seem too real, a follow up with apprehension.
Yet, it is unsure if these information is totally true, as more investigations is being carried out by the EFCC on the way about of the Institution's funds.

#MyRoadsWorseThanYours: Nigerians Shame Government

A social media campaign, #MyRoadIsWorseThanYours, sparkled a wave of activity among Nigerians as they started to share examples of the country’s worst highways trying to shame the authorities into action.

Bomb crater-sized potholes, roads resembling muddy rivers in the annual rainy season and some unrecognisable even as public thoroughfares have been posted online.
Many roads lack proper drainage, turning them into swimming pools within minutes of a downpour; roadside culverts overflow; tarmac disintegrates; traffic lights and road signs are often absent. (Scroll down for photos)
“Here’s one Lagos road (state governor Babatunde) Fashola needs to repair fast,” says one tweet, with a picture of a motorcyclist navigating a flooded road, with water nearly up to his saddle.
Reportedly, Africa’s leading economy and oil producer claims to have pumped 1.4 trillion naira into infrastructure improvements since 1999.
A lot of tweets underline seriousness of this problem, users want to know why the roads are so bad.
According to Olanrewaju Adenekan who is a clearing agent at Lagos’ main port of Apapa, the traffic situation is bad. “I spend between four and five hours for a journey that should take less than one hour,” he told AFP.
Adenekan owns two cars but prefers to take public transport because it is cheaper — and also because the badly maintained roads take a debilitating toll on his vehicles.
“Nigerians spend a lot of money on maintaining their vehicles because of potholes, which damage tyres, wheel rims, shock absorbers and other components,” said quantity surveyor Alani Amusa.

Keshi Rejects Garba Lawal As Eagles' Coordinator

Less than two weeks after Stephen Keshi was restored as the head coach of the Super Eagles, latest reports indicate that the former Eagles’ captain and the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, may have clashed once again.

According to Guardian newspaper report, the latest clash between Keshi and the NFF is as a result of some appointments made by the new board of the football house while Keshi was relieved of his duty.
It was gathered that among the changes made while Keshi was sacked included the appointment of ex-international, Garba Lawal, as the Super Eagles’ team co-ordinator.

Emmanuel Attah was the co-ordinator of the Eagles before the Amaju Pinnick led NFF board appointed Lawal.

Former Super Eagles player, Garba Lawal.

Investigation revealed that Keshi, who has overturned all appointments made by the NFF, has also asked that Lawal be replaced.

It  would be recalled that it was President Goodluck Jonathan that restored Keshi to his duty post as Super Eagles coach in preparation for the make or break qualifiers against Congo and South Africa.

Critics are of the opinion that Keshi’s refusal to work with his subordinates appointed by the NFF clearly shows that he is now more powerful than the NFF, his supposed employers.

A coach has the right to appoint his technical assistants, but the appointment of other backroom staff like team coordinator, media officer is the duty of the NFF, one of Keshi critics said.
However, it was no secret that Lawal was one of Keshi’s biggest critics following Eagles’ poor start to the 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers.

A source in the Eagle’s camp in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, informed that Keshi was not ready to work with Lawal as the team co-ordinator.

“Keshi is not the type to hold a grudge but I can tell you he wants Garba Lawal out,” a report by SL10.ng said.

“He is not asking for Emmanuel Attah (former team co-ordinator) to be re-appointed, but just anybody, not Garba Lawal, who devoted all of his time working against Keshi.”
Lawal was credited as saying he doesn’t care about Keshi returning as coach and said he has no regret leading calls for his sack earlier.

Speaking on the matter, NFF President, Amanju Pinnick, told Guardian on Tuesday that he was not aware of any cold war between Keshi and Lawal in Eagles’ camp.

Pinnick said: “I don’t know where such report is coming from. I am not aware of any problem between Keshi and Lawal. I have a meeting with Keshi in the next 30 minutes.”

Read excerpts below:
What project are you currently working on?
We are working on premiering our new movie, it is entitled Onochie. And also, we are releasing two epic movies into the market very soon. They are entitled Heart of Isiaku and Adaora.
You have surely come a long way in Nollywood, what were your dreams growing up?
Our dream was very simple; we wanted to be employers of labour in whichever capacity. The reason for this was that we had a passion for the less privileged; we wanted to take care of the poor. Today, society has given so much to us, so we have to give back. We want to use this opportunity to thank God for the grace and the talent He has bestowed on us.
Did you guys have other plans or was it that movies just happened and you flowed with it?
As young girls we had a lot of plans no doubt. In my own case, I, Chidiebere, wanted to be a banker and my twin sister, Chidimma, wanted to be a broadcaster. But we thank God for our chosen career today; acting has given us a name.
Have you had any situation where you went for an audition, one got the role while the other got dumped?
Yes, we had a series of situations like that. We went for an audition and one of us got selected while the other was dum ped!
So how did you handle it? Did the dumped one get envious?
No, we were always together helping each other in interpreting our roles without feeling envy. We knew we needed each other, so no matter what happened, we stood by each other; there was never an issue of envy.
What dislikes do you share concerning the male gender?
We both don’t like arrogant and proud people.
What are the major challenges that come with being actresses especially since you are twins?
People recognize us everywhere we go; we can’t hide. We have lost our privacy.
How do you manage fame?
We manage fame only by the Grace of God. It has not been easy but with God, all things are possible.
Which of your movies would you say has been your most challenging?
For me, Chidimma, it is Onochie, the movie that will be premiered soon. I played the role of a man; a prince to be precise, while for my sister, Chidiebere, it is Broken Ambition were she played the role of an imbecile.
You are ripe for marriage. Why the delay despite being celebrities?
We are not delaying anything; God’s time is the best. It is written in the Holy Book that he that findeth and not she that findeth; it is the he that will find us (laughter).
Are you in any relationship now?
(Laughter) Please, we don’t talk about our private life in public.
Who are the lucky men in your lives?
Please we will not talk about that as well (more laughter).
Have you fought over a man in movies or real life?
In real life no! In movies, yes! For details you could check out films like Broken Ambition, Compulsory Risk, and Broken Soul.
Has having a twin sister been an advantage or a curse?
Being twins is an advantage and we thank God.
Could you share the experience that made the both of you cry?
Our father’s death devastated us. We miss him but God needs him most.
Which actors influenced you when you were coming up?
The actors that influenced us were Genevieve Nnaji, Mama G and Omotola; they are so true to life in role interpretation.
How do you handle male fans who want to have an affair with any of you?
We handle them like every other person who is interested in us; we handle them very well (laughter).
What advice do you have for up-and-coming actors and actresses?
Our advice to the up-and-coming is for them to be humble, patient, prayerful and above all, trust and believe in God.
Tell us about your recent awards and who are you dedicating them to?
By the grace of God we did receive awards in London. One of them was the Diamond Special Recognition Awards Worldwide. We received it for our hard work and humanitarian drive.
